General Description

Cape House is a beautiful and romantic Cape Cod style home situated directly on the wine route in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, near the Shaw Festival, the Oban Inn and Spa, the Prince of Wales Hotel, Pillar and Post Inn, cycle paths, golf courses, shops and restaurants. Short walk to lakeside park.

Relax on the front porch or enjoy our lovely private backyard. Have a quiet moment of reading in our upper lounge while enjoying complimentary beverages or sit by the fireplace at breakfast and mingle with other guests in our lower lounge on the main level.

A delicious full breakfast is served daily by candlelight in the dining room. Our philosophy is to use the freshest,very best locally produced ingredients and to prepare them simply and lovingly. We use fresh herbs,fruits and vegetables from our own garden when possible and from nearby growers and locally produced maple syrup, honey and cheeses. A vegetarian menu is available.

Cape House is decorated with casual coastal elegance. Featuring art by local Artist Irene MacKenzie. Each guest room features unique upscale decor, white goose down duvets and pillows, luxurious new pillow top mattresses, cozy designer bathrobes, private ensuite bathrooms with hairdryer and complimentary luxury spa amenities, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Rooms also include wireless high speed internet access, flat screen TV, clock radio/cd player and central air conditioning.

Our friendly Golden Retriever Nauset lives in our private quarters. We are an adult oriented B&B(no children under 18)and a non-smoking property.
Cape House is a reflection of not only the style of the house and our love of the Niagara region, but also of our many summers spent on Cape Cod, our passion for travel and sailing, good food, fine wine and the enjoyment of sharing life's adventures with friends new and old.

Breakfast

Your gourmet breakfast might begin with Berry Parfait,fresh blueberries,strawberries or blackberries layered with yogurt and cinnamon,canadian maple syrup and homemade granola,or scrumpious cinnamon baked pears or peaches. Accompanied by freshly baked scones or bread served with local jams, Cape Cod cranberry morning cake (an old family recipe),or to 'die-for' rich and buttery cinnamon buns. The main course may include light and fluffy blueberry pancakes or carmelized banana waffles both served with roasted hickory bacon, four cheese frittata with roasted tomatoes, bacon and avocado crepes served with 'Greaves' famous chili sauce and sweet and savory corn bread. Followed by raspberry or blueberry crepes accompanied by creme anglaise or apple streusel coffee cake topped with Island clotted cream...And of course a variety of fresh fruit juices,fresh fruit smoothies and an abundance of freshly brewed coffee and teas. The menu will vary according to the season and we also offer a vegetarian option on request.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is designated a National Historic Site and named one of the most beautiful towns in Canada with something for everyone to enjoy.
The Historic downtown shopping district has many quaint shops where you can find unique gifts and decor, beautiful designer fashions, gourmet products and scrumptious baked goods. Take a ride in a horse drawn carriage and learn about our unique town and its history. We can make arrangements for you to customize a historic tour.

One of the world's finest theatre companies, the Shaw Festival is internationally celebrated for its vivid and exhilarating productions of plays by Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries. The festival Theatre is just minutes from CapeHouse and tickets can be arranged for all productions, subject to availability.

Located within minutes of CapeHouse you will find Strewn Winery, Stonechurch, Konzelmann Estate Winery , Jackson-Triggs, Stratus, Hillebrand and Pillitteri. Just a short drive away you will find many more including Inniskillin, Reif Estate Winery and Peller Estate Winery just to name a few.

Directions

From Niagara Falls, follow the Parkway to John Street and turn left. Follow John St. to Mississauga St.(Hwy #55) and turn right. Turn left onto Mary. We are on the left hand side approx 300 yards. From Toronto take QEW to Niagara-on-the-Lake turnoff, 13 kilometers to Mary Street, turn left. We are 300 yards on the left. 1895 Lakeshore Road. 905-468-8380.
