Glenwood House was built in 1865 for one of Victorian Stratford’s most affluent residents, Joseph Johns and his wife Ann, and is now the residence of Chris and Bill Magill, who have lovingly restored its original charming Victorian ambiance. Furnished throughout with period antiques and historic collectibles, Glenwood House is sure to transport you back to yesteryear. Open seasonally, we offer three tastefully-appointed air-conditioned ensuite bedrooms.

Each morning greets you with a bountiful supply of freshly-brewed coffee or tea served at 8:00 am in the tea room, followed by a full, delectable breakfast, served at 9:00 am in the dining room. You are invited to relax in the comfort of the guest living room, or weather-permitting, on the front veranda or in the garden patio surrounded by perennial gardens. The Avon River and downtown Stratford are a mere seven–minute walk away. We offer ample off-street parking.

Breakfasts consist of freshly baked croissants, muffins or fruit breads, fruit dish and a specialty-of-the day:

Fruitbreads and muffins may include lemon loaf or walnut-date-raisin loaf, blueberry-peach cobbler muffins or date-and-nut muffins.

Fruit dishes may consist of fresh fruits-of- the-season topped with freshly-whipped cream.

Specialties-of-the-day may include eggs, prepared any style, served with home fries, and back bacon or farmer’s sausage, belgian waffles served with an abundance of fresh fruit, hot blueberry sauce and freshly-whipped cream, lemon-blueberry pancakes served with fresh fruit and topped with freshly-whipped cream, or french toast served with banana foster and pecans.

Breakfasts are served with a variety of fresh fruit juices and bottomless cup of freshly-brewed coffee or imported specialty teas.

From Ontario street, Stratford's main street, continue to the court house, over the stone bridge and onto Huron Street. John Street is the second stoplight from the bridge. Turn left onto John Street. Glenwood is the first house on the left.
